Senior Specialist – Data Analytics & Internal Audit
Location: Hybrid – Ottawa (preferred), Montreal, or Toronto
Duration: 12-Month Contract (with potential for extension)
Security: Must be eligible to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status
About the Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Specialist – Data Analytics & Internal Audit to help build a modern, enterprise-wide data analytics capability within an Internal Audit function.
This is a strategic role focused on developing reusable analytics, enabling continuous auditing, establishing governance and standards, and helping audit teams embed data analytics into their day-to-day work. You’ll work closely with audit, risk, business, and technology stakeholders to improve audit effectiveness through data-driven insights and automation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an Internal Audit Data Analytics strategy and roadmap.
- Design scalable, reusable analytics solutions including dashboards, scripts, templates, and automated audit procedures.
- Embed analytics into audit planning, testing, reporting, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Establish analytics governance, standards, methodologies, and quality controls.
- Coach and support audit teams in adopting analytics and data-driven audit practices.
- Partner with business and technology teams to improve access to trusted data and strengthen analytics capabilities.
- Present findings and recommendations to technical and executive stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical discipline (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, or similar).- Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Analytics, Automation, or Continuous Monitoring within an Internal Audit, Risk, or Technology Assurance environment.
- Experience designing scalable and reusable analytics solutions , not just one-time analyses.
- Strong understanding of:
- Internal Audit
- Risk Management
- Controls
- Audit methodologies
- Experience establishing analytics governance, standards, and quality controls.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.- Certifications such as CAP , CBIP , or other analytics/data-related certifications.
- Experience with Power BI , Python , UiPath , or similar analytics and automation technologies.
- Experience implementing continuous auditing or continuous monitoring programs.
