Intermediate/Senior Interior Designer (various project types)

Description of the company:

A long established Toronto architecture practice with over 60 years of work behind them, spanning corporate and commercial, high tech and data centres, institutional and judicial, transportation, retail, residential and large mixed use. Interior design is its own practice area inside the firm. Interiors work ranges from trading floors and corporate headquarters to courthouses, civic buildings and retail environments. Midtown Toronto studio.

Why is this role open:

The interiors team is busy across a mix of project types and needs another designer at the intermediate/senior level. The focus is front end design work, concept through design development, working on more than one project at a time. 

Responsibilities:

• 
  

  Develop concept design packages: moodboards, sketches, space planning options and design narratives



• 
  

  Take projects through schematic design and design development



• 
  

  Source and specify finishes, materials, furniture and lighting



• 
  

  Produce presentation material and renderings for client meetings



• 
  

  Coordinate with the architectural and consultant teams



• 
  

  Attend client meetings and design reviews and work the feedback into the next iteration

Must-haves:

• 
  

  4 to 8 years of interior design experience in an architecture or interior design firm



• 
  

  Diploma or degree in Interior Design from a recognized program



• 
  

  Strong concept, SD and DD experience



• 
  

  A portfolio that shows design thinking



• 
  

  AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)



• 
  

  Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, barrier free requirements and construction detailing



• 
  

  Comfortable presenting your work and talking through design decisions with clients

Nice-to-haves:

• 
  

  Revit. Asset, but not a requirement



• 
  

  Enscape, Lumion, 3ds Max or similar visualization tools



• 
  

  ARIDO registration or NCIDQ, or working toward it



• 
  

  LEED or WELL accreditation



• 
  

  Corporate workplace, institutional or judicial interiors experience

Work style:

Hybrid, 4 days per week in office, Toronto.

Compensation:

$80,000 to $85,000 base, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Compensation Disclosure
