The Sr Systems Development Consultant formulates and modifies procedures to solve complex problems, proposes and designs systems and solutions to address business needs, and liaises with other technical/functional areas to ensure guidelines are adhered to within development projects. As a senior level in the Systems Development job stream, the Sr Systems Development Consultant provides system development expertise, technical leadership, and consulting to project teams across multiple phases of systems development and technology and provides advanced leadership and guidance to less experienced IT staff.

How you will create impact:

• Perform technical analysis and formulate design and solutions for a complex system or for integration with multiple systems, including verifying integration across multiple hardware platforms and development environments.
• Ensure the overall design considers all aspects (environment, strategy, key business need, user demand, integration with related systems, financial implications, etc.) and all design/system components are feasible, maintainable, usable, scalable and work with the overall technical design of the system(s) or solution.
• Leading design review, implementing and troubleshooting activities to deliver the needs of multiple stakeholders within Information Technology (IT) and the business.
• Evaluate software packages and prepare proposals, recommending implementation of changes to systems architecture.
• Present new discoveries in programming solutions and practices

Development and Testing:

• Act as a development lead, choosing the approach, and planning and delegating the work. Establish accurate time and resource estimates, and may provide high level estimates for business prioritization.
• Lead and plan unit testing and work with business systems analyst on system testing, coordinating the setup of test environments to verify that functionality and data integrity is maintained.
• Ensure coverage of both functional and non-functional business requirements within test planning and execution, covering stress testing, load testing and performance testing.
• Research, identify and document solutions for application defects and where necessary, use debugging tools to determine root cause of defects and/or liaise with vendors.

Systems Development Leadership :

• Provide mentorship, leadership, guidance, consulting and direction to project team members, including assigning tasks and reviewing/providing feedback and input into performance reviews, and instructing in the use of new technologies being introduced.Assist project manager in impact assessment for development initiatives. Participate in defining work breakdown structures, milestones and estimates.
• Support architects in identifying standards for the technologies and tools utilized.
• Contribute to IT standards, methodologies, processes and tools.
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with IT and business contacts.

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, with at least 7 years' experience in IT, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, ClaimsCenter and/or BillingCenter
• Experience leading teams of developers in the delivery of technical solutions to business requests, code reviews, and developing designs.
• Understands overall strategies for company-wide system architecture and design to ensure all systems integrate as required.
• Knowledge of strategic and tactical plans.
• In-depth knowledge of multiple enterprise applications and the technologies used.
• Expert in SDLC and architectural standards.
• Advanced knowledge of various project management methodologies.
• Knowledgeable of technology trends and directions. Competencies
