Our client is looking to hire an Interim Controller on a 6-month contract basis. About the Opportunity
- Build and stabilize the accounting function post-acquisition
- Design the chart of accounts and core finance processes from scratch
- Help evaluate, select, and implement the accounting system
- Manage monthly accounting activities in a high-volume e-commerce environment
- Own monthly close and quarterly SEC financial reporting
- Manage AP/AR across a high-volume Shopify-based e-commerce model (small ticket, high transaction count)
- Partner on integrating additional acquisitions into the financial infrastructure
- Collaborate on broader tech stack design (CRM, sales/marketing, KPIs, accounting)
- 7–10 years of progressive finance/accounting experience
- Prior startup or ground-up build experience — comfortable in unstructured environments
- Hands-on operator: willing to roll up sleeves
- Self-starter who can figure things out independently
- Highly collaborative — will work closely with 2–4 stakeholders across themes
- Strong systems implementation experience
- US GAAP familiarity is an asset
- Publicly traded / SEC reporting experience is an asset
- E-commerce or Shopify exposure is an asset
- Experience deploying AI-enabled finance tools is an asset
