Senior Consultant, Health & Benefits Consulting

About The Role
As a Senior Consultant on the National Accounts Team, you will be the primary contact for medium to large clients, managing day‑to‑day needs and ensuring high quality work. You will use your expertise in employee benefits to recommend solutions, present insights, guide both clients and internal teams, coach junior members, and support business growth.
Responsibilities
- Grow and build business with current and prospective clients.
- Maintain service and revenue accountability for medium to large sized clients.
- Analyze financial and claims information relating to benefits plans, annual renewals and client proposals.
- Evaluate the cost and design competitiveness of client benefit plans.
- Negotiate service and premium rate agreements with insurance providers.
- Deliver presentations to clients and conduct client meetings.
- Review and provide advice related to benefit plan contracts and documentation.
- Manage multiple clients or provide senior support for large clients.
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients and internal colleagues.
- Lead client meetings and present work to clients using effective and clear written and oral communication.
- Identify problems and implement proactive and creative solutions.
- Interpret benefits legislation and standards, and educate team members as appropriate.
- Manage the relationship between clients, administrators, insurance providers, and other team members.
- Coach, mentor, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Lead internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends.
- Participate in external training, industry conferences, and seminars.
- Manage special projects as required.
- Act as a resource to the Employee Benefits practice area.
- Identify cross‑selling opportunities in other lines of business and introduce other services to clients as appropriate.
Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years of experience in group benefits or the group insurance industry.
- Post‑secondary education and related courses in group benefits (CEBS) or actuarial sciences.
- Must have LLQP or willingness to obtain it.
- Proven capability at the Consultant level.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Exceptional customer focus.
- Excellent communication, project management, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Proven leadership ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Mentor and coach experience, with patience and intuition.
- Highly organized, self‑starter, flexible, and highly independent.
- Good working knowledge of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
