What you'll be doing

As part of the PC&T Governance & Controls team, you'll help strengthen and sustain an effective control environment across the business. As a Consultant, PC&T Governance & Controls, you'll support control testing, sustainability testing, and external audits, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR), to help ensure risks are mitigated and governance, risk, and compliance requirements are met. You'll work closely with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to enhance control management frameworks and processes, while preparing control-based compliance reporting. You'll use your expertise to assess control effectiveness, identify gaps, and recommend improvements that support continuous improvement across the organization. In this role, you'll bring a thoughtful, risk-focused approach to helping the team deliver strong and consistent control practices.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

• Governance and control expertise - Apply your knowledge of governance, risk, and control principles to support a strong and sustainable control environment.
• Control testing and assessment - Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls, identify gaps, and recommend practical improvements to strengthen risk mitigation.
• Control lifecycle management - Support controls across their lifecycle, including design, implementation, monitoring, enhancement, and decommissioning.
• Process improvement - Develop and enhance control-related processes and documentation to ensure they are robust, effective, and aligned with compliance requirements.
• Stakeholder collaboration - Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and partners across regions to support audits, testing activities, and ongoing control management.
• Reporting and delivery - Prepare control-based compliance reports and manage multiple priorities to deliver clear insights and meet timelines.

Who you are

• You have relevant experience. You bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in audit, risk, or governance, with strong knowledge of financial reporting controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR), operational controls, and regulatory compliance within Human Resources.
