CBI Home Health is looking to hire Direct Support Specialists in Winnipeg.

What you will do:

• Support clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individual's quality of life
• Assist and teach daily living activities, and life skills to promote the self-esteem and well-being
• Daily documentation and reporting
• Menu planning and/or preparation
• Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
• Support clients with varied level of personal care (e.g. hand-over-hand, full support, etc.)
• Assisting with household activities and chores
• Companionship

What you will need to be successful

• Experience/knowledge of working with adult clients with intellectual and mental disabilities.
• Experience/knowledge of working with clients with alcohol and drug dependencies and behavioural challenges.
• Must have a valid certification in Basic first Aid and CPR.
• Required to have a clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector, Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry valid in the last 6 months.
• Minimum Grade Twelve education, preferably post-secondary, Developmental Service Worker Certificate,Health Care Aide certification or a combination of related education/experience.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment, sound decision making abilities and the capacity to work with minimal supervision.
