Program Overview 
Workforce Development offers various programs to support community members in improving their soft and technical skills and helps individuals secure long-term employment in specific sectors. The Workforce Development team supports those unemployed or under-employed with specific skills training and employment support for attachment with employers in various sectors.

This position works within Workforce Development team in Community Programs Unit to contribute to the learning opportunities provided to a variety of clients to improve their digital literacy, soft skills, occupational-specific hard skills, employability skills and financial literacy to improve their employment and financial outcomes.

This position reports to the Manager, Workforce Development to provide the design, development, coordination, implementation, and support of training activities within the Community Programs Unit at WoodGreen.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and deliver training programs and in-class training opportunities based on the objectives outlined by the unit.
• Coordinate with Manager to assess training needs and objectives of different client groups within unit.
• Ensure logistical details for setting up rooms, duplicating materials, coordinating with instructors and other logistical details are carried out for each workshop, as needed.
• Coordinate with external training providers engaged by WoodGreen to deliver training related services.
• Facilitate training courses as part of a regular schedule and as a backup facilitator as needed.
• Support the index of training resources and management of training assets.
• Support the tracking of training participants’ status and results.
• Create and administer training feedback mechanisms. Analyze results, make recommendations for training improvement, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses.
• Coordinate other staff and volunteers in their outreach and promotion activities of Workforce Development training initiatives.
• Occasionally order and manage food functions.
• Apply best practice research into the computer-based training curriculum provided based on skills competencies in different employment sectors.
• Identify, recommend, develop, and implement training programs to increase computer literacy and self-sufficiency.
• Oversee development and dissemination of help sheets, usage guides, and FAQ lists for end users.
• Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information related to the organization, units, programs, staff, and clients, which the duties of the position provide access to.
• Engage/attend training seminars, conferences, and trade shows to upgrade skills as directed by WoodGreen Community Services to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
• Ensures anti-racism objectives and community development principles of the organization are achieved.
• Participates in regular supervisory sessions, staff and unit meetings
• Carries out additional duties as identified from time to time by the Supervisor of Training and Evaluation, Workforce Development.
• Travel to different WoodGreen locations occasionally as needed and to work for extended periods of time at one location, if needed (e.g. for 2 weeks at one location while training classes are in progress).

What You Bring to the Team

• University degree, in the field of Education, Adult Education, Human Resources, Social Services, or related field of study.  
• 1 year work experience in the field of Adult Education, Workforce Development, or a related field of work.
• Proven experience with adult learning principles, methodologies, and course design techniques.
• Proven experience using best practices to teach in-person and online classes.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including instructional and presentation skills with experience performing train-the-trainer type sessions and direct workshop program delivery.
• In-depth, hands-on knowledge of enterprise and desktop applications, including Microsoft office products.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on motivational skills and positive attitude.
• Ability to conduct research into course development and delivery concepts, as well as technical software issues.
• Experience developing and delivering curriculum for job seekers in a social services environment.
• Experience collaborating with employer partners to develop and design curriculum which prepares job seekers to fulfill high demand jobs.
