Part Time Learning Assistant

Job Responsibility: Glenmore Christian Academy (GCA) is a private Alberta accredited Christian school located in the Southwest of Calgary, Alberta, specializing in the education of children in grades K-9. GCA is a member of AISCA (Association of Independent Schools and Colleges in Alberta) as well as ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). GCA's mission is to Teach Truth, Inspire Excellence, Experience Christ and Server through Love. GCA has a head of school, two principals and a staff of over 100 serving approximately 1000 students. GCA has an opportunity for a part time (4 hours per day) Elementary Educational Assistant. Under the direction and mentorship of the Learning Support teacher as well as the Elementary principal, this individual will be available to support individual students within an Elementary classroom. This position will begin in January 2024 on a mutually agreed upon date. Characteristics Successful applicants will possess the following characteristics: A vibrant Christian faith, demonstrating the leadership of Jesus Christ in support of the Faith-Based Vision of the school Agrees to and adheres to the GCA Statement of Faith - without reservation Fluent in English Prepared to work collaboratively with other teachers and support-staff as a member of a professional learning community Ability to design effective strategies to meet the children's diverse learning needs Effective communication skills with colleagues, and students Excellent organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information Excellent English written and oral communication skills Ability to make sound judgment and decisions Ability to work effectively independently or in teams giving and taking direction Self-starter who is able to set priorities and meet deadlines Familiar with video conference technologies such as Zoom Qualifications Is able to clearly express his or her faith and relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Agrees wholeheartedly with and abides by the GCA Statement of Faith Successful completion of a Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Sector Search to be completed less than three months prior to employment and no later than 6 weeks after employment Preferred Education: Educational Assistant Certificate Early Childhood Certificate Bachelor of Education Experience and Skills: Excellent English written and oral communication skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a learning assistant; three years relevant work experience; OR; an equivalent combination of training and/or experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a full range of students. Exceptional interpersonal skills Familiar with general computer and technology use including Google Meet, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs and Google Sheets.
