Site Engineer - Major Underground Infrastructure Project - Toronto, Canada

Protecnium is an international firm specializing in engineering and technical services (). We are currently looking for a Site Engineer to join our team for a Major Underground Infrastructure Project in Toronto, Canada (on-site position).

-Project: Underground Transit Infrastructure, Stations, and Tunnel Works

-Estimated duration of the position: 24 months -In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.

-Summary

As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of technical and coordination tasks—from managing site activities to maintaining accurate documentation. Acting as a key link between stakeholders, you will help drive communication, quality, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.

-Main Responsibilities

• Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with project standards.
• Maintain daily logs, site photos, and effective communication with all project teams.
• Ensure quality control by following QA/QC procedures and project specifications.
• Review drawings, identify missing resources, and support site setup activities.
• Implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), contribute to short-term planning, and track project progress.
• Develop risk assessments, enforce safety protocols, and report any site changes.
• Oversee material testing, report non-conformances, and ensure high-quality execution.
• Manage material deliveries, maintain work records, and support additional site activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture through proactive hazard identification and reporting.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support efficient project delivery.

-Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 10-hour shifts . Rotational schedule: 2 weeks on day shift and 2 weeks on night shift.

-Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Site Engineer in tunnel/railway/ or heavy civil construction projects. Experience with Shaft Excavation .
• Familiarity with Canadian construction codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize tasks to meet deadlines and project objectives.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate project documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to anticipate and resolve site challenges.
• Proficiency in construction software for project management and reporting.
• Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
• English level: C1 (Advanced).
