Position Overview
Our client, the Bank of Canada, has a 12‑month hybrid remote renewable contract for a Windows Support Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to projects and platform operations, deploying, maintaining, and upgrading our Windows server workplace, both on‑premise and cloud.
- Provide ongoing level 2 technical support, maintenance, and improvement to the Bank environment.
- Provide direct support through the ticketing system (ServiceNOW) to application owners, developers, and related internal and external teams.
- Create thorough and detailed documentation (SOPs) of all changes, upgrades, procedures, vendor interactions, and root cause analysis.
- Recommend ways to improve performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Perform other related activities and deliverables as required.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- University degree or college diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent relevant work experience supporting critical applications in a hybrid setting.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent demonstrated experience in Windows Server systems, including administration of Microsoft Group Policies and Microsoft SCCM.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent demonstrated experience in performance and capacity monitoring for critical servers.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent demonstrated ability to develop and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Azure, etc.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and upgrading Windows Server 2016 through Windows Server 2022.
- Demonstrated advanced understanding of Windows server support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a scripting language such as Ansible playbooks, PowerShell, or Python.
- Demonstrated ability to create automation scripts, deploy orchestration and automation processes, and produce related products.
- Demonstrated ability to make technical decisions necessary for a multi‑tiered, large‑scale, highly isolated production setting.
- Demonstrated experience applying a product‑ and service‑oriented mindset, including end‑to‑end ownership and accountability for resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and perform multiple tasks concurrently.
