Director of sales and marketing

The Hyatt Place Hotel is a hotel of the Artifact Group, a Canadian private real estate investment and management company, focused on the acquisition and management of real estate across all asset classes, including hospitality, office and multi-family properties.

Why are you important?

A Director of Sales and Marketing plans, organizes, directs and controls the promotion, sales and marketing activities of a company's products and services in order to attract customers to buy products and services.

Responsible for the overall performance of the sales and convention team, with direct involvement in revenue management and public relations, this position is a key member of the executive committee and involved in all aspects of the hotel's management.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the administration of the sales, marketing and convention service department, to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the department;

- Verify and work to ensure a high level of quality and customer service throughout the department;

- Manage the human resources of his or her department (hiring staff, training, work distribution, scheduling, performance evaluation, conflict management, etc.)

- Design, improve and implement sales standards and procedures and tactics while keeping all Hyatt brand standards in place;

- Lead the institution's marketing strategies based on customer trend studies and established development plans;

- Engage in regular coaching, performance management and discipline;

- Oversee payroll and forecast the needs of the resources required to achieve objectives;

- Work with the Sales, Revenue and Convention team, as well as the General Manager to develop annual sales plans and budgets;

- Active in all aspects of revenue management;

- Approving and monitoring expenditures within the approved budget;

- Leverage technology and effectively use information systems and tools to generate financial reports and provide analytical support to managers for decision-making;

- Keep up to date with current trends and developments in the industry;

- With the help of the Executive Committee, address and resolve all situations that may affect our customers;

- Target, solicit and sign new contracts;

- Support and increase our existing contracts;

- Make outside sales calls, solicitations and hotel visits in order to sell rooms and meeting rooms;

- Build interpersonal relationships and aggressively target the market;

- Finalize sales and establish short- and long-term objectives related to the budget;

- Lead accounts and market research using and developing strategies in order to increase our market share;

- Participate in activities related to industry associations, clubs and organizations;

- Entertain guests both at our hotel and outside, represent the hotel in a professional manner;

- Travel is required for this position (trade shows, sales trip)

Schedule:

- Full-time position, fixed-term contract

- Monday to Friday, daytime

- Schedule can be modified according to events and customer meetings

Remuneration:

- Annual salary to be discussed based on experience;

- Group insurance, 50% of which is covered by the company;

- Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) and Deferred Profit-Sharing Plan (DPSP);

- Employee: you choose the amount of your contribution

- Employer: DPSP only

- 3% for employees with 3 months to 2 years of service

- 3.5% for an employee with 2 to 4 years of service

- Excellent knowledge of the immediate area and tourist points of interest;

- Written and verbal communication skills (French and English)

- Proficiency in the Office suite

- Proficiency in Amadeus Advanced (Cvent) and Opera Cloud software, an asset

- Experience as a hotel sales representative in the Montreal area, an asset

Job Requirements:

- Residency or Canadian citizenship previously obtained

- Valid driver's license

- 2 to 4 years of relevant sales-related experience
