Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator / Operations Support Specialist to support day-to-day infrastructure operations, operating system administration, middleware services, gateway connectivity, and REST API support. The successful candidate will assist with system monitoring, incident troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and operational support to ensure the availability, stability, and performance of IT infrastructure and application services.

This role is ideal for candidates looking to develop their technical skills in infrastructure administration, systems operations, middleware technologies, and API-based integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Operating System and Infrastructure Administration

• Assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of operating systems and infrastructure components.
• Support routine system administration activities, including user account management, permissions, service monitoring, and system updates.
• Monitor system health, resource utilization, availability, and performance indicators.
• Assist with hardware inventory management, basic hardware troubleshooting, and infrastructure maintenance.
• Perform routine system checks, backup verification, and operational health assessments.
• Support patching, configuration changes, and maintenance activities under established procedures.

Middleware and Gateway Support

• Assist with monitoring middleware services, application servers, and gateway components.
• Support the configuration and maintenance of middleware environments under the guidance of senior administrators.
• Monitor gateway availability, connectivity, and service performance.
• Assist in troubleshooting basic connectivity issues involving applications, middleware components, and backend systems.
• Escalate middleware failures, gateway errors, and service interruptions to appropriate technical teams.
• Maintain operational documentation, configuration records, and troubleshooting procedures.

REST API Support

• Assist in monitoring REST API availability and service health.
• Perform basic API testing to validate endpoints, request parameters, responses, and status codes.
• Support troubleshooting of API connectivity, authentication, and request-response issues.
• Review application and API logs to identify errors and recurring operational problems.
• Coordinate with development and application support teams to resolve integration issues.
• Maintain API support documentation and incident records.

Operations and Incident Management

• Respond to infrastructure alerts and service requests according to established support procedures.
• Log, categorize, prioritize, and track incidents through resolution.
• Follow escalation procedures for critical incidents and recurring technical issues.
• Participate in routine maintenance, operational checks, and incident reviews.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, support records, and operational checklists.
• Follow established security policies, access controls, and change-management procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in systems administration, IT operations, infrastructure support, or technical support.
• Basic understanding of operating system administration and infrastructure components.
• Familiarity with middleware services, application servers, or gateway technologies.
• Basic knowledge of REST APIs, methods, status codes, and request-response structures.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, ports, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Ability to interpret system logs and troubleshoot common infrastructure issues.
• Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to participate in operational support activities and follow established procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Windows Server or Linux administration.
• Familiarity with API testing tools and basic command-line utilities.
• Exposure to monitoring dashboards, incident-management systems, or infrastructure monitoring tools.
• Basic understanding of authentication mechanisms, access controls, and system security.
• Entry-level certifications in systems administration, networking, or cloud infrastructure are an asset.
