Compassionate, patient full-time live-in caregiver to support my mother in her home

The ideal candidate has experience with dementia and Alzheimer’s care and holds a valid PSW certification. This is a private senior care position, and we will provide a private bedroom and separate bathroom for the caregiver. The role involves being present when my mother wakes, usually around 8:00 a.m., helping check undergarments and bedding, assisting with dressing, and giving morning medication and breakfast. You will also prepare a simple lunch and dinner, help with grocery ordering or shopping, and administer bedtime medication, with bedtime usually between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Personal care duties include bathing assistance 2 to 3 times per week, hair washing once per week, supervision during washroom visits, reminders for hand washing, and supervision with teeth brushing. My mother can walk on her own and may use a walker with supervision. Additional responsibilities include completing a daily PSW sheet covering dietary intake, medication administration, and activities, as well as keeping track of personal care supplies. Light housekeeping is also required, including washing dishes, wiping counters, cleaning the bathroom and toilet as needed, laundry, and general household support such as vacuuming. Companionship is an important part of this senior care role. My mother enjoys conversation, reading the newspaper, and playing simple card games, so I am seeking someone who is kind, attentive, and engaging. This is a full-time live-in caregiver position starting November 1st (tentative), with a schedule that includes mornings and nights every day, plus midday and evening support on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The role is over 50 hours per week. A driver’s license and vehicle are not required. CPR and Basic Life Support training would be considered an asset.
