Salary Range – Starting $33.467

The AFCN RPN plays a pivotal role in enriching the lives of residents by supporting the LTC Home in the administration of treatments and assessments. The Foot Care Practitioner will have the opportunity to provide routine foot care nursing services to residents and clients within the portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Ensure resident care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies, observe and report symptoms and conditions of residents, and initiate remedial health measures where appropriate. Assure observance of required techniques in nursing care.
• Assess residents and contribute to resident care plans. Monitor residents’ health, note changes in condition and assess need for referral to doctors.
• Perform foot care procedures for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated. Observe and document client conditions and changes following proper standards and in accordance with professional standards.

Qualifications

• Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care Certification is required.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.
• Access to reliable transportation and a “G” class license.
• Willingness to travel between work sites if required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
• Effective human relation skills and demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.

Additional Requirements

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• Completion of a 2‑step TB skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
