The Roofing Bin & Logistics Driver / Site Support position is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation, placement, removal, emptying, and coordination of Noble Roofing Ltd. disposal bins, along with material pickups, deliveries, jobsite support, and other logistical duties required to keep roofing projects operating efficiently.
This position plays an important role in the day-to-day operation of the company. The employee will work closely with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, site supervisors, roofing crews, suppliers, disposal facilities, office staff, clients, and company management.
The employee is expected to plan and organize their daily route, know the location and status of company bins, anticipate when bins will need to be exchanged or emptied, and communicate regularly with the project team to ensure crews have the equipment, materials, and disposal capacity they require.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Bin Transportation & Disposal
- Safely operate company trucks and bin-handling equipment.
- Deliver disposal bins to roofing projects and other designated locations.
- Pick up full bins from active jobsites.
- Transport roofing debris and other approved waste to authorized disposal, recycling, or transfer facilities.
- Empty bins at local disposal facilities and return bins to the appropriate jobsite, company yard, or next scheduled project.
- Exchange full bins for empty bins when required to prevent delays to roofing crews.
- Coordinate bin movements based on project schedules, job progress, available bins, disposal requirements, and crew needs.
- Maintain an accurate understanding of where each company bin is located at all times.
- Track which jobs have bins, which bins are full or nearing capacity, which bins are available, and where available bins are needed next.
- Ensure bins are not overloaded and loads are safe for transportation.
- Properly tarp, cover, contain, and secure roofing debris and other materials before transportation.
- Ensure debris, tools, equipment, or materials cannot fall, blow, spill, or shift from the vehicle during transportation.
- Follow all landfill, transfer station, recycling facility, and disposal-site procedures.
- Collect and submit disposal receipts, weight tickets, and other required documentation.
- Immediately report prohibited materials or unusual waste discovered in company bins.
Bin Placement & Jobsite Coordination
- Communicate with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, site supervisor, roofing foreman, or client before placing or relocating a bin.
- Determine safe and practical bin locations at each project.
- Consider crew access, material deliveries, vehicles, pedestrians, neighbouring properties, driveways, landscaping, overhead obstructions, traffic, and site conditions when placing bins.
- Position bins as close as reasonably possible to the work area while maintaining safe access to the property.
- Avoid blocking fire lanes, emergency access, entrances, garages, neighbouring properties, sidewalks, or other required access areas unless specifically authorized.
- Confirm bin placement with the appropriate project representative when required.
- Notify management immediately if a requested bin location appears unsafe or may cause property damage.
- Use appropriate precautions when placing bins on finished driveways, asphalt, concrete, landscaping, or other potentially damageable surfaces.
- Assist in planning upcoming bin movements based on the percentage of completion and expected progress of each roofing project.
Material & Supply Transportation
- Pick up roofing materials, supplies, tools, equipment, flashings, plywood, fasteners, vents, membranes, insulation, safety equipment, and other materials from suppliers as directed.
- Deliver materials and supplies to the correct project or company location.
- Verify materials being picked up against purchase orders, supplier paperwork, or instructions when applicable.
- Confirm quantities where reasonably possible before leaving suppliers.
- Immediately report missing, damaged, incorrect, or backordered materials.
- Transport tools and equipment between jobsites, suppliers, storage locations, and the company yard.
- Pick up emergency or unexpected materials required by roofing crews to minimize project downtime.
- Assist with returning unused materials or supplier returns when required.
- Maintain delivery receipts and provide paperwork to the office or management.
Roofing Project Support
When driving and bin responsibilities permit, the employee may also be required to assist with general project support, including:
- Delivering tools and equipment to crews.
- Moving equipment between projects.
- Assisting with jobsite setup and demobilization.
- Picking up forgotten or urgently required supplies.
- Assisting with material staging.
- Helping maintain clean and organized jobsites.
- Removing garbage or excess material from completed projects.
- Returning unused materials to the company yard or supplier.
- Moving ladders, safety equipment, generators, compressors, or other company equipment.
- Assisting crews with ground-level work when reasonably required.
- Supporting final jobsite cleanup.
- Collecting company tools and equipment when projects are completed.
- Assisting with preparation of upcoming projects.
- Supporting emergency roofing projects when required.
The employee is expected to help wherever reasonably necessary to keep projects moving efficiently.
Scheduling & Coordination
The employee is responsible for organizing their workday in coordination with management and the project team.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing upcoming requirements before the beginning of each workday.
- Maintaining a daily schedule of planned bin movements, disposal runs, material pickups, and deliveries.
- Planning efficient routes to reduce unnecessary driving and downtime.
- Coordinating bin exchanges with the progress of roofing crews.
- Communicating with site supervisors regarding approximately how far projects have progressed and when bins will likely need to be exchanged.
- Looking ahead at upcoming projects to determine where bins will be needed.
- Updating the Project Manager or Project Coordinator when scheduled movements have been completed.
- Immediately communicating delays, mechanical problems, landfill delays, traffic issues, material shortages, access problems, or other circumstances that may affect the project schedule.
- Keeping the company informed of the current location of trucks, bins, equipment, and important deliveries.
- Completing assigned tasks within the requested timeframe whenever reasonably possible.
Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance
The employee is responsible for treating company vehicles and equipment with care and keeping them in safe operating condition.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting required vehicle inspections before operation.
- Checking tires, wheels, lights, brakes, mirrors, fluids, trailer or bin connections, load-securement equipment, safety equipment, and other required items.
- Reporting mechanical defects or safety concerns immediately.
- Not knowingly operating an unsafe vehicle or piece of equipment.
- Keeping the truck cab, truck body, and equipment reasonably clean and organized.
- Monitoring fuel and required vehicle fluids.
- Reporting upcoming servicing or maintenance requirements.
- Keeping tarps, straps, chains, binders, tools, and other transportation equipment organized and in good condition.
- Reporting vehicle damage immediately.
- Completing any company-required vehicle inspection or maintenance documentation.
Safety Responsibilities
The employee must:
- Follow Noble Roofing Ltd. safety policies and procedures.
- Follow WorkSafeBC requirements applicable to their work.
- Follow B.C. Motor Vehicle Act and commercial vehicle requirements applicable to the vehicle being operated.
- Operate vehicles safely and responsibly at all times.
- Wear required personal protective equipment while on active jobsites.
- Ensure bins and loads are secure before travelling.
- Never knowingly operate an overloaded or unsafe vehicle.
- Follow safe backing and reversing procedures.
- Use a spotter when reasonably required because of limited visibility or site conditions.
- Be aware of workers, clients, children, pedestrians, vehicles, buildings, overhead hazards, landscaping, and other obstacles while maneuvering trucks and bins.
- Immediately report accidents, property damage, injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, or equipment damage.
- Follow the safety requirements of disposal facilities, suppliers, commercial properties, strata properties, and construction sites.
- Never operate a company vehicle while impaired or otherwise unfit to safely perform driving duties.
Documentation & Communication
The employee may be required to:
- Maintain daily schedules and task lists.
- Record bin locations.
- Update bin status and availability.
- Record disposal runs.
- Submit dump and recycling receipts.
- Submit supplier receipts and delivery paperwork.
- Photograph bin placement when requested.
- Record material pickups and deliveries.
- Document vehicle inspections when required.
- Communicate completed tasks to the Project Manager or Project Coordinator.
- Use company software, text messaging, telephone, GPS, Jobber, or other approved systems for scheduling and communication.
- Respond to reasonable calls or messages from management regarding active projects during working hours.
Accurate and timely communication is an essential part of this position.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess:
- A valid B.C. driver's licence appropriate for all company vehicles they are required to operate.
- Class 3 driver's licence and/or air-brake endorsement where required for the vehicle being operated.
- A satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Experience safely operating trucks, dump trucks, trailers, hook-lift, roll-off, dump-bin, or similar equipment is an asset.
- Construction, roofing, delivery, waste-management, or material-handling experience is an asset.
- Ability to safely reverse and maneuver vehicles in residential and commercial construction environments.
- Ability to understand vehicle and equipment limitations.
- Ability to safely secure loads.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.
- Ability to prioritize changing project requirements throughout the day.
- Ability to use a smartphone, GPS, maps, scheduling applications, text messages, and basic company software.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
This is an active construction-support position and may require the employee to:
- Frequently enter and exit trucks.
- Walk on uneven construction sites.
- Bend, climb, push, pull, carry, and lift materials.
- Handle roofing supplies, tools, tarps, straps, debris, and equipment.
- Perform work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely lift and carry approximately 50 lbs individually when reasonably required.
- Work around active construction sites, roofing debris, vehicles, equipment, and machinery.

The Roofing Bin & Logistics Driver / Site Support employee is expected to take ownership of the company's bin and transportation logistics.
A key expectation of the position is knowing:
- Where every active disposal bin is located.
- Which bins are full or approaching capacity.
- Which bins are available.
- Which projects will require a bin next.
- Which projects are nearing completion.
- Which materials or supplies need to be picked up.
- What deliveries and disposal runs are scheduled for the current and following workday.
The employee should work proactively with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator to develop an efficient plan rather than waiting until a crew has stopped working because a bin, material, tool, or supply is unavailable.
