The Vice-Principal provides direct leadership, supervision, and support to the educational team and oversees resource management within their assigned programs. The Vice-Principal is responsible for creating a safe, positive, and therapeutic environment. The Vice-Principal ensures policies, procedures, and agency standards are being met.

The Vice-Principal leads the educational team within a cross-functional, multidisciplinary, integrated, and collaborative model of treatment. The Vice-Principal is responsible for integrating the educational program with other agency programs as well as the community. The Vice-Principal sets the direction for the program and creates a climate of learning and personal development that benefits both students and staff.

Qualifications

Education and Professional Certification

• Bachelor of Education and a valid Professional ‘A’ Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.
• Inclusive Education qualifications.

Experience

• Minimum five (5) years of experience teaching.
• Experience in a supervisory role, providing leadership, guidance, support, and development to team members.
• Experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioural, cognitive, mental health, and/or developmental challenges is an asset.

Services

• Evaluate individualized education plans and programming. Monitor and approve the team’s delivery of the plans.
• Establish and maintain a therapeutic milieu.
• Manage and provide structure for educational programming. Research, adopt, refine, and implement service elements to improve programming or meet the changing needs of the students.
• Assist with the supervision of students in a safe and structured environment.
• Ensure students needs are met in accordance with policy and procedures including: safety, treatment, medication regiments, healthcare, documentation, nutrition, daily activities, and hygiene.
• Report any issues or concerns that may be of interest to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Develop and implement a communication plan that includes the dissemination of information with all internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with and establish professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Review and make recommendations within the educational programs regarding the intake, transfer, and discharge of students.
• Responsible for the orientation of students and/or families to the program services.
• Lead and resolve first level investigations regarding staff or student issues, concerns, and grievances.
• Teach and model appropriate interventions and handling techniques in accordance to agency standards. Provide post-crisis response and debriefing follow-up and training.
• Participate in and facilitate meetings and planning sessions with internal and external stakeholders regarding the program and the students.
• Ensure representation from the team at all planning conferences, three-way conferences, and intake and transfer meetings with stakeholders.
• Participate in community events, agency activities, and other activities as required.
• Ensure the educations team’s documentation in permanent records, working papers, and intra-unit communications is complete and in compliance with agency standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Leadership

• Manage the educational team within their program including; recruitment and selection, performance management, professional development, and staff discipline.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and team development for all educational employees of the program including: facilitating team meetings and individual supervisions; overseeing and providing training and development plans; completing evaluations, reviews, and when applicable, performance improvement plans; participating in employee relations issues and investigations; providing post-crisis debriefing; and providing advise and consultation.
• Responsible to ensure direct reports have completed mandatory training.
• Ensure policies, procedures, and agency standards are being met.

Management of Resources

• Schedule all employees of the program using agency approved systems. Manage and update the schedules as required including approving paid time off (PTO) requests, filling open shifts, and addressing staffing requirements.
• Access resources required to achieve program objectives appropriately and efficiently.
• Responsible for the oversight and appropriate use of all agency resources assigned to the program.
• Prepare and reconcile the program’s monthly operating budget, with specific responsibilities for the monthly working fund projections as applicable.
• Provide input into the program’s annual strategic plan and capital plan.
• Account for the successful implementation of the operating plans within the assigned educational programs.
• Ensure care and maintenance of the assigned assets including; building(s), vehicles(s), furnishings, and equipment. Account for, through agency systems, the use of resources. Submit the required safety, licensing, and maintenance logs.

• Maintain, promote, and reinforce safe work habits, practices, and procedures.
• Adhere to written or verbal agency and government regulations, policies, practices, and instructions.
• Include health and safety in their departmental plans with measurable goals and objectives.
• Ensure employees are working in compliance with established safe work practices.

Additional Requirements

• All vice-principals must meet the minimum Inclusive Education requirements set forth by the Ministry of Education. The requirement is to complete a minimum of the following Inclusive Education classes; Speech and Language, Individual Assessment, Individual Programming, and three Inclusive Education electives. Vice-Principals are encouraged to complete these classes as soon as possible; however, they must have them completed within five (5) years of employment at Ranch Ehrlo Society.
• The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
• Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher drivers license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.

Salary range for this position is $62, 292.00 to $94,196.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
