Lead BackEnd Developer (Contract)

Job Responsibility:

BIMM is booming, so we're looking for an experienced Lead BackEnd Developer (on contract till Dec 20, 2024 ) to join our team!

As we observe a hybrid model, this role will require you to be in office at BIMM HQ (Distillery District) up to 2 days per week.

Our Technology department is a 30+ person distributed team of Developers, QA, and Architects delivering amazing digital products on a leading-edge technology stack.

Who we're looking for

As a Lead BackEnd Developer, you will work cross-functionally with the product team, front-end engineers, architects, and QA. You will work with and help mentor other back-end engineers, help architect solutions to problems, and communicate with leadership about the needs of your team.

You use modern tools and frameworks and can code up an application from scratch and spin it up on your favorite infrastructure. You have a clear understanding of security and build it into any of your services. Although you have the full support of both business and technology members, you are able to lead the research and solution of complex problems. At the same time, you know when to ask for help and don't let silly pride or ego get in the way, because even as a team lead you are part of a bigger team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant software engineering experience with server-side frameworks and languages
• 3+ years of Node.js experience
• Experience working with GraphQL
• Prior experience as a team lead or a lead architect supporting several developers
• Prior experience with a variety of tools used to perform unit testing, automated builds, and source control
• You can demonstrate experience from at least one large scale project
• AWS knowledge - ideally some certifications or equivalent experience
• Developing high-performance applications by writing testable, reusable, and efficient code
• Developing and maintaining all server-side network components
• Ensuring optimal performance of the backend services and responsiveness to front-end requests
• Close collaboration with front-end developers and architects
• Implementing effective security protocols, data protection measures, and storage solutions
• Running diagnostic tests, repairing defects, and providing technical support
• Documenting backend processes, including database schemas, as well as preparing reports
• Recommending and implementing improvements to processes and technologies
• Able to rapidly pick up new concepts and technologies

Nice to have

• Computer Science Degree
• Familiarity with Apollo Studio
• Knowledge of Docker, k8s
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines preferably Github Actions
• Knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
• Familiarity with GCP
