Crisis Clinician – Northumberland Hills Hospital
Join Northumberland Hills Hospital as a Crisis Clinician, delivering essential mental health support in the Emergency Department. This part time, temporary role focuses on crisis de‑escalation and risk assessment for patients in need. As a Crisis Clinician, you will report to the Patient Care Manager and play a pivotal role in mental health assessments and safety planning.
You'll also engage with police and community services on non‑emergency crises, providing counseling and referrals within the Ontario Health East Region’s primary health care framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess mental health for individuals in the Emergency Department
- Execute crisis de‑escalation techniques to ensure patient safety
- Offer short‑term counseling and case facilitation
- Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and agencies
- Respond to community mental health situations as required
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work or related discipline
- Current skilled registration with Ontario colleges
- Minimum 2 years in emergency department crisis intervention
- Understanding of community mental health resources
- Current BCLS and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention certifications
