Criminal and Family Duty Counsel Positions

Legal Aid Ontario is hiring Duty Counsel focused on criminal and family law in Cobourg, Peterborough, and Lindsay. As a Duty Counsel, you will provide essential representation for clients facing family and criminal legal challenges. Your responsibilities will include court representation, case management, and sensitive interactions with vulnerable populations. Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients effectively in court and hearings
- Manage files and ensure timely data input
- Provide advocacy in family law and criminal matters
- Conduct disclosure reviews and facilitate legal referrals
- Assist with necessary court documentation and processes
- Member in good standing with Ontario's Law Society
- Experience with family law legislation and court practice
- Proven skills in legal document drafting
- Strong background in supporting marginalized communities
- Willingness to travel for court appearances
