Associate Director, Training Standards -- The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)

REPRESENTING MORE THAN 47,000 MEMBERS, the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is the professional organization responsible for establishing standards for the training, certification, and lifelong education of family physicians, and for advocating on behalf of the specialty of family medicine, family physicians, and their patients. The CFPC accredits postgraduate family medicine training in Canada’s 18 medical schools.

The CFPC is seeking an accomplished leader to provide operational leadership for its Training Standards portfolio, supporting accreditation, educational standards, and continuous improvement initiatives that shape family medicine residency training across Canada.

Associate Director, Training Standards

Reporting to the Director, Training Standards, the Associate Director provides operational leadership for the Accreditation and Educational Standards teams. The role oversees the effective delivery, implementation and continuous improvement of accreditation standards, policies, processes, and reviews, while supporting the development of educational standards, curriculum, and assessment initiatives that guide family medicine residency training.

Working closely with the Director, the Associate Director leads the day-to-day operations of the portfolio, supports departmental planning and resource management and fosters collaboration with key educational and accreditation partners.

The successful candidate is a collaborative leader with a record of accomplishment in postgraduate medical education, accreditation, or health professions regulation within a complex healthcare, academic, or not-for-profit environment. With a proven ability to build and lead engaged, high-impact teams, the Associate Director will provide exceptional operational oversight and cultivate trusted relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. A thoughtful communicator, the successful candidate is recognized for advancing initiatives that strengthen educational quality, organizational effectiveness, and system impact.

The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree in education, health administration, business administration, or a related discipline, together with at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience. Experience in Canadian medical education, accreditation, and family medicine, is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, sound judgment, and a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and service excellence. The salary range for this position is $144,701.76 to $180,877.44. This role is based in Mississauga, and the successful candidate may have the ability to work remotely in accordance with the Organization’s policies and procedures dealing with remote and/or hybrid work arrangements in effect from time-to-time. Our current hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm Eastern Time.

This is a new role for the organization with an expected appointment in fall 2026.
