Director of Marketing & Communications

Iron Gate is Canada's largest fine wine and rare spirits auction house. We are seeking a strategic, hands-on, and visionary Director of Marketing & Communications to drive our national growth, digital transformation, and brand elevation.

The Opportunity

In this full-time salaried role, you will serve as Iron Gate's core internal marketing leader. Working directly alongside senior management, executive leadership, and our client care and sales teams, you will take full ownership of executing our comprehensive communications strategy. While you will be the strategic anchor internally, you will direct and manage external partners, video producers, and specialized contractors to bring our brand narrative to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy Execution: Own and deploy our integrated omnichannel marketing strategy across owned, earned, shared, and paid media.
• Content & Video Leadership: Direct a video‑first content motion across Meta (Instagram/Facebook), LinkedIn, YouTube, and Reddit. Translate our proprietary research, market reports, andnewsletter/email marketing into high‑converting visual and digital assets.
• Contractor & Agency Management: Select, manage, and hold accountable external agencies, creative contractors, video producers, and digital media buyers.
• Sales & Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with our internal sales and client care teams to align promotional calendars, lead generation efforts, and auction timelines.
• Lead Generation & Paid Campaigns: Oversee targeted paid digital campaigns to acquire high‑net‑worth collectors, younger bidders (under 45), and high‑value consignors.
• PR & Thought Leadership: Execute quarterly media outreach, secure earned coverage in luxury, business, and wine publications, and position Iron Gate leadership on industry panels, podcasts, and speaking engagements.
• Website & Experience Optimization: Partner with technical teams to optimize website user experience, reduce bidding friction, and integrate AI tools (AI Concierge, pricing calculators).

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of progressive marketing and communications experience with a proven track record in digital strategy, brand building, and PR.
• Luxury Marketing Acumen: Deep understanding of high‑net‑worth consumer behavior, premium brand positioning, and luxury storytelling. (Domain expertise in fine wine and spirits is a strong asset, but luxury marketing acumen and a willingness to learn the category are fully sufficient).
• Team & Contractor Leadership: Demonstrated capability to act as the sole internal lead while successfully directing external creative contractors and agency resources.
• Data-Driven Mindset: Comfortable using analytics (PowerBI, Google Analytics) to track acquisition velocity, campaign ROI, and database growth.
• Education: post‑secondary degree/certificate in marketing/PR/communications
• Location: Based in Calgary, AB or Toronto, ON.
• French language fluency is a benefit, but not required.
