Compliance Officer

Our client, a well-established public sector organization in Halifax, NS, is seeking Compliance Officers to join their growing team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, interacting with the public, and making a positive impact on the community through education, enforcement, and compliance. Reporting to the Supervisor, Parking Enforcement, the Compliance Officer is responsible for enforcing parking regulations and municipal by-laws while delivering exceptional customer service. This is a 100% field-based position , with employees reporting to the downtown Halifax office each day to pick up their assigned vehicle and equipment before beginning their shift. - 35 hours per week
- Rotating schedule, 5 days per week (Monday to Sunday)
- Shift hours:
- Monday–Saturday: 6:30 AM – 8:00 PM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Patrol assigned areas to monitor parking compliance and public safety.
- Enforce parking regulations and applicable municipal by-laws.
- Issue parking violations and arrange for vehicle towing when required.
- Respond to public complaints and investigate parking and by-law concerns.
- Educate residents and visitors on parking regulations and municipal legislation.
- Conduct inspections and document findings using handheld technology and computer systems.
- Prepare accurate reports, maintain case files, and collect evidence as required.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Attend court proceedings when required.
- Support seasonal operations, including winter parking enforcement to assist with snow clearing activities.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Must have 1+ years in Customer Service and Security experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional while handling challenging or confrontational situations.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
