You will regularly perform the same field work as our technicians - including climbing ladders and accessing rooftop units, working from scissor and boom lifts with fall arrest, servicing equipment in attics, crawlspaces, ceiling spaces, and mechanical rooms, and lifting and carrying components and tools up to 50 lb (23 kg) unassisted - in Saskatchewan winter cold and summer rooftop heat, through full days on your feet.Teach: raise the technical knowledge and performance of the team through hands-on mentoring, technical guidance, and coaching. You set the standard by doing the work yourself, alongside your technicians, and demonstrating the right way on the job. Developing our technicians is a core measure of success in this role, alongside KPIs and financial performance.Manage service projects and maintenance agreements; price and recommend maintenance programs that win and keep commercial accounts.Provide quotes for HVAC repairs and installations, and support technicians in the field - in person, on the tools - with estimating, technical troubleshooting, and customer needs, including after-hours and emergency calls when the situation calls for it.Own scheduling for service and maintenance work and ensure job tickets are completed accurately and on time.Audit service reports and BuildOps documentation for quality and consistency.Work with the management team on profitability and P&L; ensure cost-effective use of equipment, tools, and materials while keeping field operations efficient.Foster excellent relationships and communication with customers, and resolve issues before they become problems.What We Are Looking For: HVAC / mechanical trades industry experience is required - you must be able to support our technicians from a technical angle very quickly. We don't expect you to know everything, and we will train you on our systems and processes.5+ years of formal management or leadership experience in a service-based operation.A passion for teaching and mentoring - proven experience raising the technical ability of the people around you, not just managing them.P&L experience and a working knowledge of service department financials.Proven leadership skills: hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating a team.Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - with direct experience working with customers and solving problems.Ability to make sound decisions on problems involving varied levels of complexity, ambiguity, and risk.Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP platforms (BuildOps an advantage) plus accounting software such as QuickBooks - we will train the right candidate on our systems.A continuous improvement mindset and comfort with modern technology.Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable driving record.Who succeeds here:Technical skill and leadership experience get you in the door.
