Senior Physiotherapist - Amputee Rehabilitation

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde as part of the specialist WestMARC Physiotherapy team, a regional centre of excellence based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. You will work within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering expert rehabilitation for individuals with limb loss across the West of Scotland. The role offers the chance to manage a complex and rewarding caseload, supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey and maximising functional outcomes. You will contribute to regional and national service delivery, including participation in the Scottish Specialist Prosthetic Service MDT. Base Location: WestMARC, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate physiotherapy interventions for patients following limb amputation across a complex caseload
• Deliver specialist prosthetic rehabilitation, including support with prescription, training and ongoing review of prosthetic componentry
• Work collaboratively within the WestMARC multidisciplinary team and liaise with acute, community and national services to ensure seamless patient care
• Manage a varied outpatient caseload including patients with vascular, trauma, orthopaedic, oncology and sepsis-related amputations
• Participate in the National SSPS MDT, contributing to clinical discussion, decision-making and regional service development
• Supervise, support and develop Band 5 physiotherapists, support workers and students, contributing to education and training
• Contribute to audit, research activity and ongoing service improvement within WestMARC

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy with current HCPC registration
• Significant post-registration experience, including demonstrable expertise in amputee rehabilitation
• Evidence of relevant postgraduate training and continuing professional development in prosthetic or related practice
• Strong clinical reasoning skills with the ability to manage complex cases autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support, motivate and educate patients, carers and colleagues
• Experience of supervision, teaching or mentorship of staff and students with a commitment to learning and development
• Knowledge of audit, research and service improvement with good IT skills, including the use of clinical systems and documentation
