THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE:
Reporting to the Lead, Business Operations, the Senior Award Manager will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of awards and supporting strategic initiatives across the organization. This role contributes to organizational accountability and program integrity by ensuring effective donor compliance across SCI, Members, and partners. The Senior Award Manager will manage a range of compliance-related processes, serve as the primary contact for donor compliance matters, and provide leadership to a small team, supporting Country Offices and other partners in the delivery of high-quality programs aligned with our values of transparency, integrity, and collaboration.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Awards Management
Manage a complex portfolio of grants throughout the award lifecycle, including project kick-off, monitoring, amendments, and closeout with Country Offices and partners. Ensure compliance with internal processes and donor requirements, maintaining accurate records and audit trails. Lead the administration and continuous improvement of the Award Management System (AMS), ensuring data quality and providing staff support. Deliver AMS onboarding, training, and updates to staff, and share system enhancements across teams.Budget Management & Financial Health
Oversee project budgets, including preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis to ensure financial health and alignment with donor agreements. Monitor and manage financial performance across awards, addressing issues like burn rate, salary recovery, and match funding in collaboration with finance teams.Donor Compliance, Relationship Building & Reporting
Serve as the primary point of contact for donor compliance, particularly with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), and provide guidance, training, and resources. Lead the review and submission of high-quality narrative and financial donor reports, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and stakeholders, leading compliance discussions and negotiations as needed.Business Operations Support
Provide support across a range of organizational priorities including strategic planning processes and operationalization Strengthen knowledge of and engagement in awards across SCC through knowledge sharing, cross-training, and the development of tools and resources.People Management
Lead assigned team/department providing strategic direction, coaching, and performance management while ensuring alignment with organizational values and policies. Set clear team and individual performance expectations for productivity, quality, and success; providing direction and support as needed. Oversee budget management, recruitment, change management, and career development while ensuring compliance, fostering a respectful, values-driven culture, and maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace. Ensure regular and transparent communication on strategy and policies, uphold SCC’s Code of Conduct, Policies, Leadership Charter, Reconciliation, Equity, Anti-Racism, Diversity, Inclusion (READI), Health and Safety standards, integrates Child Safeguarding practices, models competencies, and professional and ethical behavior.Qualifications include (but are not limited to):
Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Minimum 5-7 years of management experience in International Development, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO/INGO), or other not-for-profit sectors is required. People management experience in a unionized environment is preferred. Proven experience in in project management/business operations/grant management in International Programs, supporting projects in developing countries and fragile contexts. Proven experience with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) funded projects; knowledge of GAC policies and procedures; donor compliance, knowledge of Results-Based Management (RBM) approach is required. Demonstrated proficiency in project financial management and outspoken and advocacy oriented. Advanced communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills for diverse audiences to build strong working relationships across cultural and organizational settings, both internally and externally. French/Spanish/Arabic language skills is an asset. Demonstrated project management experience for task execution of assigned objectives supported by proficiency with MS Office tools and relevant technologies. Ability to work under pressure within tight timelines to achieve SCC objectives. Displays analytical and problem-solving skills to support initiatives with demonstrated adaptability to support change management for successful task implementation. Applies judgment and make sound decisions that are accountable, justifiable, and in adherence to policies and procedures. Considers organizational strategy and thinks creatively to support innovative initiatives and collaborations that deliver benefits for the children and families we serve. Ability to occasionally travel locally, nationally and internationally (less than 10%) as required.WHAT WE OFFER
The salary range for this position is between $88,628.10 to $103,942.56 CAD depending on skills and experience. In addition to this, our employees will have the following package of additional benefits:
