Health Informatics Student

This position is presently located at the St. Thomas or Woodstock site. This position is anticipated to extend until December 20, 2024, subject to availability of work and funding. Southwestern Public Health is currently looking to fill one (1) student position to support the Healthy Schools program team. This opportunity provides a chance for the successful individual to use their program evaluation knowledge and skills. In addition to learning from our public health team, the successful individual will be offered a hands-on experience related to data collection and analysis, identification and application of best practices and evidence, and report writing. The successful candidate will support partner collaboration through the creation and implementation of data visualization tools with the Healthy School Team. The audience for this work is local school boards and Middlesex London Health Unit. This work will include working with multiple data sets to create dashboards that show population health indicators and support planning. Essential Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Health Informatics program.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others in a mentored team setting.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in an environment of competing demands.
• Excellent computer skills specifically in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel and Power Point Skills.
• Effective research abilities.
• Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective multidisciplinary team member.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to self-reflection, professional growth and development.
• Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable access to an insured working vehicle.

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Employment Agreement. Salary: $20/hr (70 hours in a two-week period). Will receive vacation pay each pay period. A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPID), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate. Immunization Requirements: Provide documentation you have received two (2) doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, plus at least one booster dose, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.
