Remote Tree Species Specialist at Flash Forest

Enhance your forestry expertise with Flash Forest as a remote Tree Species Interpretation Specialist. Focus on tree species mapping using aerial images and field data across Ontario and British Columbia. This part-time contract position is ideal for professionals with substantial experience in boreal forests. You will engage with tree identification and species labeling, using advanced LiDAR and RGB imagery. Collaborate remotely with a dedicated team, utilizing your skills to refine species identification and contribute to vital environmental initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Review tree images and point cloud data for accurate species labeling
- Interpret RGB imagery to identify individual tree species
- Utilize LiDAR data to support tree identification decisions
- Cross-check species labels with ground truth plot data
- Document labeling decisions and track progress
- Several years of forestry or silviculture experience
- Strong tree species identification skills
- Experience with aerial photo interpretation
- Familiarity with multispectral imagery is a plus
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently
