Our client is in the logistics and transportation industry. They are looking for an Accounting Manager who will be responsible for leading and structuring our accounting department within a fast-paced logistics environment. This role will oversee a team of three accounting staff and be responsible for establishing efficient processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting operational decision making. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, industry specific knowledge and the ability to build scalable accounting practices that align with the unique demands of logistics operations.

About the Opportunity
Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions
Lead, mentor and develop our accounting department, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
Design, implement and optimize accounting processes, internal controls and departmental structure.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports
Monitor cash flow, budgeting and forecasting activities to support business planning
Ensure compliance with applicable accountings standards, tax regulations, and industry specific requirements
Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to align financial practices with fleet management, fuel costs, freight billing and revenue recognition
Oversee audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and system enhancements
Support strategic decision making by providing financial insights and analysis
About You
Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset
Minimum 3 years of experience as an Accounting Manager
Experience in the logistics/transportation industry is required
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls
Proven experience managing and developing accounting departments
Experience with financial systems and ERP/accounting software
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
Salary Range
$110,000 - $120,000/year
