Legal Counsel (12-Month Contract)

AbbVie seeks an experienced Legal Counsel for a 12-month contract role in Montreal, reporting to the Head of Legal for AbbVie Canada. The position involves providing strategic commercial legal advice on complex pharmaceutical and regulatory matters, managing priority files across marketing, medical affairs, and market access functions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as lead counsel on strategic priority areas, advising on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters
- Provide risk-based guidance to senior business clients on Canadian promotion, patient support, payer access, and go-to-market strategies
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex trade, commercial, pharmacy, and corporate agreements
- Support executive initiatives and drive workstreams on strategic matters and novel legal transactions
- Coach junior attorneys through mentorship programs and manage outside counsel on specialized matters
Requirements
- Law degree from recognized university
- Licensed to practice law in Canada, preferably Quebec
- 3–5 years of relevant legal experience in pharmaceutical or regulated industry
- Knowledge of competition law, corporate law, anti-bribery, privacy, IP, and regulatory compliance
- Solid understanding of market access and Canadian legal landscape
- Advanced proficiency in French and English (oral and written)
