Part Time Outreach Support Worker

Job Responsibility:

Community Living Alternative Services (CLAS) is currently seeking to fill one open position for a Part Time Outreach Support Worker.

Position Summary: This is a front-line community disability services role that has responsibility to support and facilitate the development of skills and competencies that will assist persons with disabilities to access their community and fulfill their goals, objectives and aspirations. All supportive activities are expected to be community access-based, not home-based.

Experience: Knowledge and ability to provide various supports to individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. Those with personal/family caregiver experience, volunteerism backgrounds, sector-related education but no experience, or support workers looking for second jobs are all welcome to apply.

Shift & Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4 hours perday, 20 hours per week, mornings and early afternoons only.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Confidently provide frontline, face-to-face support to individuals with varying challenges while they access and interact with their groups and communities of choice
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Solid computer skills with the ability to access and understand websites, MS Office suite, and video conferencing technologies
• Professionalism
• Positive attitude
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to maintain composure when dealing with complex reactions and challenging behaviours
• Must be able to identify issues, set priorities, and implement an appropriate plan of action

Other:

• Must have a reliable car, personal car insurance, and minimum third party liability insurance coverage set to two million dollars ($2,000,000.00)
• Valid Class 5 or better driver's license, issued in Canada
• Must be willing to use your personal vehicle for work purposes
• Successful candidate will need to complete a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Search
