School Training Advisor (Health Trades Vocational Training Center)

Schedule: 35 h / week

Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM and from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM

Responsibilities

The Vocational Training Center for Health Trades trains essential personnel for the health network.

As the only vocational training center fully dedicated to health trades in the greater Montreal area, it has educational facilities that replicate the medical environment in every way.

Its reputation for excellence among its graduates allows it to establish close partnerships with CIUSSS (Integrated University Health and Social Services Centers) that actively collaborate in both training and internships, while promoting employment at the end of training.

The need is for a replacement of indefinite duration that may extend until June 30, 2027.

The main workplace is at the Galt building, but the person may also be called to work at the Kirkland building:

Main tasks:

• Evaluate students, during individual or group meetings, regarding their interests, aptitudes, abilities, personality, work experiences, and personal needs using appropriate methods such as psychometric tests, direct observations, and information provided by teachers and other school staff, and, where applicable, by parents;

• Through individual or group counseling interviews, help the student to question themselves and build a comprehensive image of themselves, explore and clarify their situation and establish personal and professional goals, grasp the meaning of the information received, understand, take responsibility for, and overcome their personal and social problems;

• Support students in finding ways to overcome the difficulties inherent in achieving their training project as well as their social and professional integration;

• Contribute to the screening and recognition of students experiencing difficulties, with a view to prevention and intervention; they participate with the multidisciplinary team in the development and revision of the student's intervention plan, integrating, if applicable, their action plan;

• Advise the support staff, write expert reports, evaluations, situation assessments, and make appropriate recommendations to support decision-making;

• Plan, organize, and lead school and professional information activities to present the requirements of training programs, the nature of professions, the situation and evolution of the job market during events such as fairs, open houses, "Student for a Day" and "Explore FP";

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with representatives from the job market and other organizations that may be involved in the school and professional guidance of students.

Requirements

• Hold a terminal undergraduate degree in an appropriate field of specialization, particularly in guidance;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (an asset);

• Proof of passing the French test SEL or CÉFRANC or TECFÉE or the enhanced French exam of the CSSMB within three months of hiring at the latest.
