Software Development Engineer, Middle Mile Disruption Detection and Execution (Vancouver)

Job Overview

Amazon's Middle Mile Transportation Technology team is chartered with solving complex problems with software that works across vendors, warehouses, and carriers to optimize time and cost of package delivery. The services handle thousands of requests per second, impact billions of dollars a year, and improve ordering and delivery experience for millions of shoppers.

You will develop an intelligent system powered by ML and GenAI to automatically resolve real‑world disruptions. Your work will include building and deploying machine learning models for predictive analytics, leveraging generative AI for intelligent automation and decision support, interacting with customers and senior stakeholders, executing technology projects, driving operational excellence, and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy scalable systems and applications that support high volume, low latency services.
• Develop machine learning models for predictive analytics and apply generative AI solutions to automate decision‑making processes.
• Collaborate with customers, engineering, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Contribute to technology project planning and execution, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers to elevate their technical skills.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Experience programming in at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (mathematics, engineering, statistics, etc.).
• Prior experience working for Amazon or an Amazon subsidiary or affiliate.

Location and Compensation

CAN, BC, Vancouver – 114,800.00 – 191,800.00 CAD annually.
