Software Developer (Vancouver)

Avigilon is looking for an Intermediate Software Developer to join its Embedded Appliance team. In this role, you will oversee the full development cycle from design to deployment of our Linux-based video and analytics infrastructure appliances.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, maintain, and deliver code and scripts for an embedded Linux environment.
• Write scripts in Golang, Bash, and TypeScript to control build and runtime operations of an embedded OS.
• Use C++ to produce robust, high-performance, scalable application software.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams using strong communication skills.
• Demonstrate self‑drive, quick learning and adaptability to evolving project requirements.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience in Golang, TypeScript, Modern C++.
• Solid understanding of operating system concepts, networking protocols, Linux, container environments.
• Experience with CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of multithreaded operating systems, performance and application concepts.
• Knowledge of IP networking applications, OpenSSL, and PC hardware components.
• Self‑driven with ability to work independently and in a team.
• Quick learner with passion for emerging technologies.

Preferred Experience

• Docker and build environments (GitHub Actions).
• IoT (Internet of Things) technologies.
• Deploying/ managing applications in production environments.
• Linux kernel and device drivers.
• The Yocto Project.

Working Location

Position based in Vancouver, BC; must reside in Greater Vancouver Area and work in the office 2–3 days per week (hybrid schedule).

Salary

Target Base Salary Range: $95,000 CAD – $111,000 CAD (subject to experience and qualifications).
