The Sr. Director, Finance provides enterprise-level financial leadership in support of the organization’s strategic, operational, and growth objectives. This position is accountable for financial governance, accounting integrity, treasury, risk management, controls, finance transformation, and senior-level stewardship of the finance function, including leadership of the migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and financial support for strategic growth of Voyageur. Enterprise Financial Strategy, Governance & Executive Leadership
- Set the overall financial governance framework, financial policy direction, control environment, and enterprise finance priorities in alignment with corporate objectives and long-term growth priorities.
- Serve as the senior financial advisor to the President and executive leadership on financial risk, stewardship, capital allocation, treasury, controls, compliance, and enterprise financial implications of strategic decisions.
- Provide senior oversight of accounting, financial reporting integrity, treasury, internal controls, tax, audit, and corporate finance activities.
- Partner with the Senior Director, Financial Planning, Analysis and Operational Excellence to ensure budgeting, long-range planning, monthly analysis, business partnering, and decision support are aligned with enterprise financial governance and corporate requirements.
- Act as a key interface with corporate finance, external auditors, financial institutions, insurers, tax advisors, legal counsel, and other stakeholders on matters affecting financial performance, compliance, risk, and governance.
- Build financial discipline, transparency, and accountability across the organization through strong controls, effective governance, clear communication, and leadership of the finance function.
Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations & Controls
- Oversee the full accounting cycle and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements, reconciliations, tax filings, statutory reporting, and corporate reporting submissions.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, delegations of authority, internal controls, and governance practices across finance activities.
- Lead external audit, internal audit, tax, insurance, banking, and compliance activities, ensuring audit readiness and timely resolution of findings or control gaps.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, fixed assets, taxation, treasury support, financial systems, and corporate administration functions.
- Ensure monthly financial reporting outputs are accurate, controlled, reconciled, and suitable for analysis by the Financial Planning, Analysis and Operational Excellence function.
- Develop a high-performing finance team by setting priorities, coaching leaders, strengthening technical capability, and promoting accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
Business Growth & Strategic Commercial Support
- Provide senior financial governance and commercial risk oversight for business growth initiatives, including pricing principles, bid/no-bid governance, margin expectations, risk assessment, and contract financial strategy.
- Review financial models and business cases prepared by the appropriate finance and business teams for major opportunities, including long-term revenue, cost, cash flow, capital requirements, working capital, foreign exchange, escalation, and profitability scenarios.
- Provide senior financial leadership for customer proposals, contract negotiations, amendments, renewals, and major program decisions to ensure commercial terms support sustainable performance and risk mitigation.
- Ensure program-level reporting, business intelligence, and decision-support processes are governed appropriately and aligned with accounting, contract, and enterprise financial requirements.
- Ensure finance practices support defence-sector expectations for compliance, documentation, auditability, cost transparency, confidentiality, and disciplined governance.
Finance Transformation, Systems & Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central\
- Lead executive sponsorship and finance governance for migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, including finance process design, chart of accounts structure, reporting requirements, controls, data conversion, testing, training, and cutover readiness.
- Partner with IT, operations, the Senior Director, Financial Planning, Analysis and Operational Excellence, external implementation partners, and business users to ensure the new accounting system supports accounting, reporting, project/program accounting, inventory, procurement, billing, approvals, and management information needs.
- Standardize and streamline finance processes to reduce manual effort, improve data integrity, enhance internal controls, and support timely financial insight across the organization.
- Establish post-implementation governance for system configuration, master data, security roles, approval workflows, reporting, and continuous improvement related to finance systems.
- Support adoption of modern finance tools, dashboards, and analytics while ensuring ownership of operational reporting, FP&A processes, and CQI program delivery remains appropriately aligned with the designated functional leader.
Treasury, Risk Management & Additional Duties
- Oversee treasury management, liquidity planning, banking relationships, cash flow forecasting, borrowing requirements, foreign exchange exposure, insurance matters, and financial risk mitigation.
- Support capital planning, asset purchase decisions, lease/buy analysis, and other financial evaluations that affect long-term organizational capacity and profitability, in partnership with the FP&A function as appropriate.
- Provide senior financial governance input to strategic initiatives, organizational design decisions, and crossfunctional business improvement efforts without assuming direct ownership of the organization’s CQI program.
- Represent finance in senior-level meetings, governance forums, customer or supplier discussions, and corporate nitiatives as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, contributing senior financial leadership and practical business judgment to the overall success of the organization.
Your Distinctive Ingredients for Success:
- University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field (required).
- CPA designation (required); MBA considered an asset.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, accounting, treasury, internal controls, and GAAP/IFRS.
- Proven experience leading teams and cross-functional finance operations.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in compliance, governance, and risk management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management abilities.
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000 annually, with compensation commensurate with experience.
