NOC 32124 Pharmacy technicians

Job Summary

Provide accurate preparation and dispensing of medications under the supervision of a pharmacist. Support pharmacy operations including inventory management record keeping and customer service.

Main Duties

• Receive review and process prescriptions verifying accuracy and completeness against patient records.
• Prepare label and package medications including counting measuring and compounding non-sterile preparations as required.
• Operate pharmacy dispensing software and maintain accurate electronic and paper medication and patient records.
• Manage inventory by ordering supplies monitoring stock levels rotating stock and checking expiry dates.
• Assist pharmacists with customer service tasks triage prescription-related inquiries and communicate with prescribers and insurers as needed.
• Maintain pharmacy cleanliness follow safety and aseptic procedures and support documentation for regulatory compliance and audits.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician diploma or certificate program.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the provincial or territorial pharmacy regulatory authority.
• Minimum one year of pharmacy technician or related pharmacy experience preferred.
• Proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software and basic office computer applications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and calculations.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and meet workplace requirements for handling medications and controlled substances.
