Automation Designer

We are looking for a Automation Designer - a skilled individual that supports our goal in finding a better way. This role identifies a strong mechanical designer, experienced in designing complex automated equipment solutions, customized machines, and secondary equipment.

What You Will Do

• Conceptualize and design customized equipment using up to date technologies.
• Perform all necessary engineering calculations with respect to designs.
• Collaborate internally with all departments from concept to launch.
• Lead design review meetings on a predetermined cadence.
• Produce detailed working drawings, Machine BOM's and Purchase BOM's for designed equipment using SolidWorks.
• Design with maintenance accessibility in mind and controlled adjustments.
• Generate Capex requests and approvals while following internal procedures.
• Place PO's and manage vendors to ensure the projects stay on time.
• Work with, and assist, builders to monitor assembly progress.

• Ensure equipment solutions are delivered on time and on budget.

What We Need

• 5 years automated machine design experience.
• Expertise in SOLIDWORKS.
• Good comprehension of GD&T, ISO & ANSI standards.
• Ability to discuss concepts open-mindedly and accept verbal direction well.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective oral and written communications.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Understanding of material selections, lifespan and components manufacturing processes and coatings.
• Experience with designs including robotics, vision systems, and other complex turn-key purchased mechanisms and sub-systems. (LVDT, Loadcell's and mold press traversing robots)
• Understanding of machine ergonomics, safety requirements, serviceability, and maintenance.
