Staff Software Engineer - Capital One Travel - Android
Capital One Canada is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Android platform in Toronto. The role focuses on advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture, and works within a dynamic mobile team while providing mentorship across all skill levels.
Responsibilities
- Own technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems.
- Collaborate with a dynamic mobile team throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Improve software engineering practices by working within Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies.
- Contribute expertise on how evolving technology affects the domain.
- Provide mentorship to junior, intermediate, and senior mobile associates.
Basic Qualifications
- At least 6 years of hands-on development of Native Android applications using Java or Kotlin.
- At least 6 years of experience with application and/or data design, architecture, and development.
- Proficiency with RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins.
- Experience providing mentorship to junior and intermediate associates and guiding technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience leading the full life-cycle of software development.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
- Exposure to AWS or other cloud products.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Previous experience at Capital One.

Expected annual salary range: 157400 – 179600.
