Music Camp Counsellor

March Break and Summer Camp Counselor and Private Lesson Teacher Needed at Cosmo School of Music

At Cosmo School of Music, we are looking for a passionate and versatile individual to join our team as a March Break and Summer Camp Counselor, as well as a private teacher. Camp Counsellor Responsibilities (March Break, July 2024 and August 2024):

· Assist in running full-day and full-week camp programs for students aged 5-11.

· Facilitate diverse and enriching musical activities, including ensemble music, singing, dancing, acting, STEM projects (curriculum provided), and music introduction.

· Guide and support campers through the basics of various instruments, including piano, ukulele, hand percussion, ensemble singing, recorder

· Foster teamwork, collaboration, and practical application of musical skills among campers.

· Organize and execute various camp activities.

· Assist in organizing and coordinating short final performances and music showcases at the end of each week.

· Ensure the safety and well-being of campers throughout the camp day.

Private Teaching Responsibilities (January 2024 onwards):

· Nurture, teach, and show students in a 1:1 teaching environment how to play an instrument.

· Guide them as they perform and refine what they are doing to achieve the desired level of skill.

· Prepare teaching materials for individual students.

· Take daily attendance and communicate with front desk staff as needed.

· Connect with parents as needed to ensure forward progress.

Requirements:

· Strong musical background with proficiency in multiple instruments.

· At least 2-3 years of camp lead experience

· Experience working with children and a passion for music education.

· Availability to work during the March break and the months of July and August on a full-time basis.

· Ontario Teaching Certificate is considered an asset.

· Valid First Aid/CPR certificate or willingness to obtain.

· Skills and abilities to create and develop camp activities and improve current curriculum.

Qualifications:

· Early Childhood Education Diploma or Bachelor's degree in music, education or relevant fields

· Proven experience in teaching music to children.

· Knowledge of various instruments, with a focus on piano, voice, guitar, percussion.

· Ability to explain musical concepts in an engaging and accessible way.

· Consistent availability for at least 1 year.

Note: This is a part time teaching position starting January 2024 with the understanding that the individual will teach camps full time for March Break and the months July and August as a Summer Camp Counselor. The compensation and contract details will be discussed further during the interview process.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
