Job Responsibility:
Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Junior Sommelier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of wines and beverages, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to enhance the dining experience for our guests. As a Junior Sommelier, you will play a key role in curating our wine list, providing recommendations, and ensuring that our guests receive top-notch service.
Responsibilities
- Assist in curating and maintain a wine list that complements the restaurant's menu
- Provide recommendations to guests based on their preferences and meal choices.
- Assist in conducting wine tastings and educate staff on wine selections and pairings.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all wines to maintain quality.
- Assist in training staff on wine service techniques and menu knowledge.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to create unique food and wine pairings for special events or menus.
- Manage inventory of wines, including ordering, receiving, and tracking stock levels.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing guest inquiries and concerns promptly.
Experience
- Previous 5 years experience working in hospitality
- Completion of or current enrolment in a Certified Sommelier Program
- Knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and proper tasting techniques is essential.
- Experience with cashiering, cash handling, and POS systems is beneficial.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on helping guests enjoy their dining experience.
- Familiarity with food handling practices and meal preparation processes is a plus.
- Bartending experience is advantageous for pairing wines with cocktails or other beverages.
