Dispatcher

Key Responsibilities

• Source and coordinate available freight loads through brokers, load boards, and customer relationships.
• Match available loads with appropriate trucks, drivers, equipment, and routes.
• Negotiate freight rates and confirm pickup and delivery requirements.
• Dispatch drivers and provide complete load information, including pickup/delivery addresses, appointment times, commodity details, and special instructions.
• Communicate with brokers, shippers, receivers, and drivers regarding load status, delays, appointment changes, and other issues.
• Track pickup and delivery times and ensure required documentation is collected.
• Obtain and verify rate confirmations, bills of lading (BOLs), proof of delivery (POD), and other transportation documents.
• Resolve transportation issues quickly and professionally.
• Coordinate appointment scheduling and assist drivers with route and delivery information.
• Maintain positive working relationships with carriers, drivers, brokers, and customers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in freight dispatching, trucking, logistics, or freight brokerage is preferred.
• Knowledge of the North American trucking and freight industry.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of common trucking terminology, documents, and procedures.

Working Conditions

• Frequent communication by phone, email, and messaging platforms.
• May require availability outside regular business hours to handle delays, emergencies, and changing transportation schedules.
