Reporting to the Supervisor Recreation Programs & Events, the Rink Monitor / Recreation Programmer is responsible for the delivery of quality recreation program instruction, on-ice skate monitoring during public skate, as well as tracking public skating admission. Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must have completed an Ontario Secondary School Grade 10 education or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency. Candidates must have three (3) months experience working in the sports/recreation field along with a minimum of one (1) year experience ice skating. The preferred candidate will have experience in teaching Art, Sports, Dance, Fitness, Yoga, Zumba, Spin, Piano and Guitar instruction. Candidates with experience in Day Camp environment and bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset. In addition, candidates must be able to work in a team environment, have good time management skills and be reliable to work under minimal supervision. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who possess or willing to obtain First Aid/CPR and Defibrillator certification and High Five Principles of Child Development training. Terms

The hourly rate of pay is $18.28 (2025), in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.13. The hours of work are generally afternoons and evenings on weekdays, and all day on weekends, as well as holidays. This position is subject to a probationary period of sixty (60) days of work or one (1) year of service, whichever comes first.
