We are Paramount Commerce, a leading fintech company that has been simplifying payments in Canada since the early 2000s. We process $5 billion annually for some of the world's largest gaming and cryptocurrency platforms across Interac, EFT and soon to be RTR rails. Our infrastructure sits at the centre of how money moves in Canada.

As we scale into new verticals and prepare for global expansion, the complexity of what we sell is outpacing the way we sell it. Our payment products span multiple rails, settlement models, and regulatory frameworks. The merchants buying them are increasingly sophisticated, with their own payments engineers and product teams who expect a technical counterpart on our side of the table. Today, that counterpart doesn't exist as a dedicated function. That's about to change.


The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CRO, you will serve as the connective tissue between our commercial goals and our technical capabilities. You’ll partner with a Product team focused on developer experience and an Engineering team that prizes robust infrastructure, ensuring our largest merchants in gaming and fintech receive a seamless, world-class onboarding experience from the very first meeting.

You will be the first dedicated Solution Architect at Paramount Commerce. This is not a role where you inherit a playbook and run it. You will build the function, define how we engage with merchants technically, and become the person that Sales can't close a strategic deal without.

The challenge is real: our deals involve merchants integrating across payment methods with different settlement flows, compliance constraints, and edge cases that surface late if nobody catches them early. When a gaming platform needs to understand how Interac request-to-pay works alongside their existing card acquiring setup, or a crypto exchange needs to map our A2A flows to their treasury architecture, you're the one in the room making it concrete.

Right now, that work falls across Product, Engineering, Onboarding and Business Development in ways that slow deals down and create post-signature surprises. Your job is to own that space, eliminate the ambiguity, and make our technical sales process as strong as our infrastructure.

What You'll Do

Be the Technical Authority in the Room

Join late-stage and strategic sales conversations where technical credibility wins or loses the deal. You're here to make sure deals close with full technical certainty so they succeed after signature, not just before it.

  • Articulate how our payment solutions work, where they don't, and what it actually takes to integrate
  • Structure solutions across payment methods (A2A, Interac, EFT), settlement flows, and compliance constraints
  • Identify risks early and prevent deals from gaining complexity that kills them post-signature

Translate Between Two Worlds

Work directly with merchant-side product managers, payments engineers, and technical architects to understand their integration requirements and constraints. You become the trusted source of truth that both sides of the table rely on by documenting:

  • Integration flows and technical architecture
  • Edge cases and compliance dependencies
  • Product gaps and required enhancements

Own Technical Pre-Sales End to End

Lead technical discovery, solution design, and integration scoping from first conversation through handoff to delivery. Over time, you'll build the repeatable assets that make this scalable:

  • Solution templates by vertical (gaming, remittance, crypto, marketplace)
  • Integration playbooks and technical qualification frameworks
  • FAQs and objection-handling guides that reduce dependency on Product and Engineering for routine deal support

Improve What Happens After the Signature

Partner with implementation and engineering teams to ensure clean handoffs that reduce time-to-launch and eliminate avoidable rework. The best SE functions don't just close deals; they make deals successful.

  • Ensure seamless Sales to Delivery transitions with complete technical context
  • Identify recurring friction points and feed them back into product roadmap and commercial positioning

Build the Function

Define the engagement model between Solutions Engineering, Sales, Account Management, and Product. You're laying the foundation; make it strong enough to build on.

  • Establish documentation standards and technical deal qualification criteria
  • Create the processes and templates that let this function scale beyond you
  • Shape what "good" looks like for Solutions Engineering at Paramount Commerce


What Success Looks Like

First 6 Months

  • Sales pulls you into every strategic deal because you've proven you change outcomes
  • Post-signature technical surprises have dropped significantly because risks are identified during the sales cycle, not after
  • You've produced the first set of vertical-specific solution templates that the commercial team actually uses
  • Product receives structured, high-quality input on merchant requirements instead of secondhand notes from sales calls

12 Months

  • Integration timelines have measurably improved through better scoping and cleaner handoffs
  • You've established a repeatable technical pre-sales process that doesn't depend on pulling engineers into sales calls
  • The function has a clear roadmap for scaling, whether that means additional hires, better tooling, or both
  • You have a direct and trusted relationship with the CRO, Product leadership, and Engineering leads


What You'll Bring

Payments Depth, Not Surface Knowledge

7 to 10+ years in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a technical pre-sales hybrid within the payments industry. You understand the Canadian and US payments ecosystem at an operational level: Interac (e-Transfer, request-to-pay, and where real-time rails are headed), A2A and EFT flows, card acquiring, and the real distinctions between PSPs, processors, and gateways. You've seen enough payment integrations go sideways to know where the risk actually lives. Direct experience in gaming, crypto, or fintech integrations will put you at the top of the pile.

Technical and Commercial Fluency

You can discuss API authentication patterns with a merchant's engineering team and then walk into a commercial negotiation about settlement timing in the same meeting. You have a strong working knowledge of APIs, webhooks, reconciliation, and settlement flows. You simplify complexity without losing precision.

Merchant-Side Credibility

You've worked directly with product managers, engineers, and payments teams on the merchant side. You can handle deep technical questioning, navigate ambiguous requirements, and guide stakeholders who don't fully understand their own systems toward clarity. This is most of the job.

Builder Mentality

You've been the first or early SE hire before, or you've operated in an environment where you had to create process rather than follow it. You care about closing deals and making them succeed post-sale. You see inefficiency and fix it without waiting for permission.


Who This Role Is For

This role is for someone who has spent years watching deals get complicated because nobody owned the technical narrative. You've seen the post-signature scramble when integration requirements weren't properly scoped, the engineering frustration when sales promises don't match technical reality, and the merchant churn that follows. You want to fix that, not just for one deal but structurally.

You should be comfortable being the person who says "that won't work the way you think it will" in a room full of people who want to hear the opposite. You should be equally comfortable proposing the alternative that actually will.

Compensation Disclosure The base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $190,000 CAD, plus performance bonus. This is a net-new position on the team. Final compensation depends on experience and qualifications. Please note that base salary ranges may differ based on location and local currency.

L'Opportunité

Relevant directement du Chef des revenus (CRO), vous servirez de lien entre nos objectifs commerciaux et nos capacités techniques. Vous collaborerez avec une équipe Produit axée sur l'expérience développeur et une équipe d'Ingénierie qui privilégie une infrastructure robuste, garantissant ainsi à nos plus grands marchands (jeux et fintech) une expérience d'intégration fluide et de calibre mondial dès la première rencontre.

Vous serez le premier Ingénieur de Solutions dédié chez Paramount Commerce. Il ne s'agit pas d'un rôle où vous héritez d'un manuel d'instructions; vous allez bâtir la fonction, définir notre mode d'engagement technique avec les marchands et devenir la personne indispensable sans laquelle l'équipe des ventes ne peut conclure de transactions stratégiques.

Le défi est de taille : nos contrats impliquent des marchands s'intégrant à diverses méthodes de paiement avec des flux de règlement distincts, des contraintes de conformité et des cas particuliers qui surgissent tardivement si personne ne les détecte en amont. Lorsqu'une plateforme de jeux doit comprendre comment le "Demander un paiement" d'Interac fonctionne avec sa configuration d'acquisition de cartes actuelle, ou qu'une bourse de crypto doit mapper nos flux A2A à son architecture de trésorerie, c'est vous qui rendez le tout concret.

Actuellement, ce travail est réparti entre les Produits, l'Ingénierie, l'Intégration et le Développement des affaires, ce qui ralentit les ventes et crée des surprises après la signature. Votre mission est de vous approprier cet espace, d'éliminer l'ambiguïté et de rendre notre processus de vente technique aussi solide que notre infrastructure.

Vos Responsabilités

Être l'autorité technique à la table

Participez aux conversations de vente stratégiques et avancées où la crédibilité technique fait la différence entre gagner ou perdre un contrat.

  • Expliquer le fonctionnement de nos solutions de paiement, leurs limites et les exigences réelles d'intégration.
  • Structurer des solutions à travers diverses méthodes (A2A, Interac, TEF), flux de règlement et contraintes de conformité.
  • Identifier les risques tôt pour éviter que les contrats ne gagnent une complexité fatale après la signature.

Traduire entre deux mondes

Travaillez directement avec les gestionnaires de produits, les ingénieurs de paiement et les architectes techniques des marchands pour comprendre leurs besoins. Devenez la source de vérité fiable en documentant :

  • Les flux d'intégration et l'architecture technique.
  • Les cas particuliers et les dépendances de conformité.
  • Les lacunes des produits et les améliorations requises.

Gérer l'avant-vente technique de bout en bout

Dirigez la découverte technique et la conception de solutions, de la première conversation jusqu'au transfert à l'équipe de livraison. À terme, vous créerez les actifs reproductibles pour passer à l'échelle :

  • Modèles de solutions par secteur (jeux, transferts de fonds, crypto, places de marché).
  • Guides d'intégration et cadres de qualification technique.
  • FAQ et guides de gestion des objections pour réduire la dépendance envers les équipes Produit et Ingénierie.

Optimiser l'après-signature

Collaborez avec les équipes de mise en œuvre pour assurer des transferts propres qui réduisent le délai de lancement.

  • Assurer des transitions fluides entre les Ventes et la Livraison avec un contexte technique complet.
  • Identifier les points de friction récurrents et les intégrer à la feuille de route produit.

Bâtir la fonction

Définissez le modèle d'engagement entre l'ingénierie de solutions, les ventes, la gestion de comptes et le produit. Vous posez les fondations d'un département appelé à croître.

Profil Recherché

Expertise approfondie en paiements

  • 7 à 10 ans et plus en ingénierie de solutions ou avant-vente technique dans le secteur des paiements.
  • Compréhension opérationnelle de l'écosystème canadien et américain : Interac (Virement, Demande de paiement, RTR), flux A2A et TEF, acquisition de cartes, et différences entre PSP, processeurs et passerelles.
  • Expérience directe dans les intégrations pour les jeux, la crypto ou la fintech.

Aisance technique et commerciale

  • Capacité de discuter de modèles d'authentification API avec des ingénieurs, puis d'enchaîner sur une négociation commerciale concernant les délais de règlement.
  • Solide connaissance pratique des API, webhooks, réconciliation et flux de règlement.

Crédibilité auprès des marchands

  • Habileté à gérer des questions techniques pointues et à guider des parties prenantes qui ne comprennent pas toujours pleinement leurs propres systèmes vers la clarté.

Mentalité de bâtisseur

  • Vous avez déjà été le premier employé SE ou avez évolué dans un environnement où vous deviez créer les processus. Vous n'attendez pas de permission pour corriger une inefficacité.
