Senior Functional Lead, ERP

Senior Functional Lead contract opportunity supporting a British Columbia municipal organizations transition from JD Edwards to the Workday Enterprise Platform.

• Primarily remote, with periodic travel to Victoria, BC.
• Part-time, approximately 20–25 hours per week.
• Expected start in Q4 2026.
• Initial 18–24-month term, with an option to extend for up to one additional year.

What & Why:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Functional Lead to guide business decisions and functional readiness across a major ERP transformation. You will work across Finance and People & Culture, helping align financial, payroll, procurement and human capital management processes. You will represent the client’s interests, work alongside the System Implementor, and ensure that functional designs, configuration decisions and business requirements support integrated outcomes. The role requires sound judgment, strong facilitation skills and the ability to resolve competing priorities across business functions.

Who:

You will report to the client’s ERP Project Manager and collaborate with Finance, Payroll, HCM and Procurement leads, business subject matter experts, technical and data-conversion teams, change management and training resources, and the System Implementor’s functional counterparts. The client owns the business processes and decisions. You will help those teams reach timely, well-supported decisions and prepare for implementation.

You:

You are a senior ERP functional leader with experience representing the organization implementing the solution. You can challenge proposals constructively, resolve cross-functional disagreements and explain complex issues clearly to business stakeholders. You understand how decisions in one functional area affect other workstreams, integrations, data, testing and training. You bring practical experience turning those dependencies into clear decisions, accountable actions and implementation readiness.
Critical Experience Requirements:

• At least 10 years of senior functional leadership experience on ERP implementations.
• A senior functional leadership role on at least one public-sector ERP implementation completed or substantially underway within the past five years.
• Functional leadership across at least two of Finance, Payroll, HCM and Procurement on a single ERP implementation.
• At least one ERP implementation leading functional delivery on behalf of the client organization.
• Availability for approximately 20–25 hours per week throughout the initial term, with flexibility around project milestones.
• Ability to attend periodic in-person sessions in Victoria.
• Three client-organization references from ERP implementations completed or in progress within the past five years, including at least one public-sector reference.

Nice to Have:

• Workday Enterprise Platform implementation experience.
• Broad functional experience across Workday Finance, Payroll, Procurement and HCM.
• Canadian municipal or local government experience.
• Strong experience working alongside implementation partners while representing client interests.
• Relevant professional credentials.
• Demonstrated success aligning functional design decisions, end-to-end testing, data conversion and training readiness.

Compensation:

Hourly contract compensation will be discussed based on experience and engagement structure. Weekly effort will vary, and minimum hours are not guaranteed. Approved travel arrangements and compensation for travel time will be confirmed before engagement.
