Manager Custody Client Services

A career as a Manager, Custody Client Services at National Bank Trust means serving as a senior technical resource for institutional clients while acting as the primary point of contact for their day-to-day custody servicing needs.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in custody operations, securities processing, cash management, settlements, and asset servicing to support clients, ETF-related operations, investigate issues, and deliver timely solutions. This position combines strong client-facing responsibilities with hands-on operational expertise and is ideal for professionals who enjoy solving complex problems and working directly within operational systems.

Your Role

• Serve as the primary service contact for a portfolio of institutional custody clients.
• Support clients with day-to-day operational inquiries related to settlements, cash movements, securities positions, corporate actions, reconciliations, reporting, and other custody-related activities.
• Investigate operational issues directly within internal systems and coordinate resolution with operational, technology, and business teams.
• Analyze transaction activity, account positions, cash balances, and operational exceptions to identify root causes and provide timely client updates.
• Act as an escalation point for complex client issues and ensure effective resolution through proactive follow-up.
• Partner closely with Custody Operations teams to resolve settlement breaks, cash discrepancies, account setup issues, reporting inquiries, and other service-related concerns.
• Identify recurring client issues and recommend process improvements to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
• Participate in client meetings, operational reviews, and due diligence discussions when required.

Your Team

As part of the Custody Operations sector, you will join a Toronto-based team responsible for supporting institutional clients across Canada.

While the title is Manager, this is a senior individual contributor position without direct people management responsibilities. Success in this role comes from technical expertise, client focus, sound operational judgment, and the ability to navigate complex issues across multiple systems and teams.

You will work closely with operations, technology, product, and relationship management teams to ensure an exceptional client experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline, and minimum of 5 years of experience in custody services, custody operations, securities operations, investment operations, or institutional servicing within financial services.
• Strong understanding of trade settlement, cash management, safekeeping, corporate actions, securities processing, and custody operational workflows.
• Proven experience supporting institutional clients and resolving complex operational inquiries.
• Ability to investigate issues independently using operational systems and reporting tools.
• Experience analyzing transaction activity, positions, cash balances, and operational exceptions.
