Snowmaking Assistant Supervisor (Full-time Seasonal)

We are looking to fill the full-time seasonal position of Snowmaking Assistant Supervisor to join our mountain operations team at Fernie Alpine Resort. Reporting to the Snowmaking Supervisor, the ideal candidate will have snowmaking and snowmobile experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to support the daily operations of the snowmaking department. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, physically capable, and enjoy working outdoors in a mountain environment.

You will

• Ensure a safe, comfortable, and friendly atmosphere for guests and staff.
• Deliver a high level of guest service.
• Assist with coordinating daily snowmaking operations and supporting the team in meeting departmental goals.
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to snowmaking staff.
• Assist with crew talks, safety meetings, and daily operational briefings.
• Assist in monitoring and maintaining the snowmaking system, including pumps, hydrants, hoses, and snow guns.
• Perform routine inspections and report operational or maintenance concerns.
• Complete reports, checklists, and documentation as requested.
• Follow up on daily operational checks and communicate findings to the Supervisor.
• Assist with shift coordination and crew assignments.
• Provide leadership and operational direction in the Supervisor's absence.
• Perform snowmaking duties as required.
• Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
• Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
• Perform other tasks and duties that are applicable

You have

• Physical capability to perform demanding outdoor work
• Ability and desire to work outdoors (day or night) in winter
• Self-motivation, are a quick learner and reliable
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience driving a snowmobile (preferred)
• Prior snowmaking experience (preferred)
• Basic record-keeping and reporting skills
• Ability to work various shifts, including overnight and rotating schedules

This is a full-time winter seasonal position. The role is set to commence in October, but could begin earlier with early season close. Shifts vary depending on weather.
