Senior Accounting Clerk

This position is located at Regional Headquarters, Whitby, Ontario.

Senior Accounting Clerk - Expenditure Management

Reporting to the Supervisor of Expenditure Management, the incumbent will:

• Review and match supplier invoices and with purchase orders in PeopleSoft Financials and Yardi Voyager.
• Process payment requests.
• Basic processing of supplier invoices in KOFAX by managing Quality Control and invoice Validation processes.
• Collaborate with the Financial Analyst 3 to log and print cheques, print remittance advice slips, ensuring all attachments are sent to suppliers.
• Sort and distribute mail, and general record management using Versatile.
• Retrieve and compile data from the financial application and format for analysis.
• Respond to supplier inquiries by phone and email, redirecting to staff or departments if necessary.
• Manage Expenditure Management's email boxes.
• Investigate and resolve payment issues in a timely manner.
• Supplier setup and maintenance.

The successful applicant will possess:

• Minimum of a post-secondary certificate in Accounting, Communications for Office Professionals and Computerized Document Production or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Previous experience in an accounting or clerical finance role, preferably in a computerized Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable environment.
• Knowledge of general accounting procedures for accurate processing of invoices (payables and receivables) and journal entries.
• Proficiency in accounting applications and software; specifically, Peoplesoft Financial System, Excel and Word.
• Ability to process data quickly and accurately in a high-volume deadline driven environment.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage challenging situations tactfully and professionally.
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• A demonstrated ability to contribute to inclusive team dynamics.
• Knowledge of Durham Region's operations, policies and procedures would be an asset.

CUPE 1764 Salary Grade 4

This position is with Salary Grade 4 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:

- Start: $37.86 - Six Month: $39.97 - Job: $42.07

Conditions of Employment
