Registered Practical Nurses - For Future Opportunities in Long Term Care

Location

Our Long Term Care Division will be opening Seaton Village, a brand new 200-bed long term care home in north Pickering in early 2027, and we are building our team from the ground up.

With this expansion, we will be hiring Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs), with opportunities to join the new home or grow within our existing sites. While most positions are part-time, some full-time positions may also available. Opportunities are expected to be available at all of the following locations:

• Seaton Village in Pickering - NEW!
• Lakeview Manor in Beaverton 
• Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa
• Hillsdale Terraces in Oshawa
• Fairview Lodge in Whitby

Registered Practical Nurse

As a RPN, you will: 

- Administer medications and treatments to residents
- Provide care and support to residents according to the care plan
- Work cooperatively with the other members of the care team
- Participate in care planning, evaluation and documentation

The successful applicants will possess: 

- A current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
- Qualifications to administer medications
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate issued within the last year*
- Previous experience in a geriatric or long term care environment is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with safe work practices
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions
- A commitment to treating all clients and colleagues with dignity, respect and cultural sensitivity and a demonstrated willingness to adapt services to meet diverse needs
- Demonstrated empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and service for residents
- Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job

* The BLS/BCLS requirement applies to new hires to the LTC Division.

Hours of Work:

As a new employee, you must be available to work all shifts - Days, Afternoons and Nights - including 2, up to 3, weekends per month. You should also be available to pick up call-in shifts on occasion. Schedules are prepared and posted 4-6 weeks in advance and are based on operational needs of the home; we do not schedule around another employer's work schedule, nor based your availability or preferences. Once you complete your probationary period, you will have the ability to declare certain scheduling preferences.

Registered Practical Nurse Salary Information

- The hourly rate range for this position is $39.72 to $40.82.

Conditions of Employment

All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process. The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within six (6) months from date of hire. Additionally, tuberculosis screening will be required in accordance with the FLTC Act (O.Reg. 246/22). Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected. Finally, compliance with the Mask Fit Testing Program is required and will be coordinated as part of the orientation process.
