Life as an Engineer at EvenUp

The Document Generation team at EvenUp builds AI‑native products that help personal injury attorneys secure better outcomes for their clients. With over $1.5B in damages claimed to date, this team is behind core products like Demand Letters, which drive faster case resolution and higher settlements, and Medical Chronologies, a rapidly growing offering that provides deep insights into medical treatment and injury impact.

In this role, you’ll work cross‑functionally to design and scale systems that improve the speed, quality, and reliability of document generation. It’s a high‑ownership environment focused on real user impact, where your work directly contributes to helping victims receive fair compensation.

What you’ll do

• Enhance EvenUp’s AI‑native document generation workflows and build systems to improve quality, reliability, and customer outcomes.
• Design and implement end‑to‑end AI‑powered features, integrating LLMs with existing SaaS systems and shipping production‑ready solutions.
• Build and maintain systems to evaluate performance, accuracy, and reliability of core deliverables.
• Establish best practices for architecture, coding, and delivery across services, APIs, and user‑facing features.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, design, and leadership to deliver high‑impact features and evolve core products.
• Contribute to the evolution of core products at the forefront of applied AI.

What we look for

• Strong software development experience, with hands‑on expertise in Python or languages such as Go, Java, Node.js, or C++.
• Proven ability to design and ship scalable, production‑grade systems, including APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience owning projects end‑to‑end in fast‑paced, high‑growth or startup environments.
• Bonus: Experience with AI, legal tech, or social impact‑driven products.

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of being in our Toronto office three days per week.
