Neuropsychologist (Calgary)

Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan. FMC has a Neuro Tertiary Unit as well as the majority of In‑Patient Neurological services in Calgary.

The present caseload for this position is in the Neuropsychology Clinic, with the potential for coverage on any unit/service as required. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Neuropsychologist you will provide advanced clinical services (including neuropsychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families. You will work within or alongside teams to provide and inform services for patients with multi‑dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychological standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You are expected to lead, facilitate, and/or participate in program, policy and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). This position may provide supervision to doctoral‑level psychology residents, master‑level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a CPA or APA program.
• Successful completion of an appropriate CPA or APA accredited residency.
• Successful completion of a two‑year post‑doctoral fellowship program with a focus in Neuropsychology (consistent with the Houston Guidelines).
• Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
• PhD in Psychology from a recognized educational program.
• BLS for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification issued within the last 12 months prior to commencement of employment.
• Independent practice in clinical neuropsychology.
• Competency with Connect Care and MS Office Suite programs.
• Experience working in a hospital setting within the last 12 months.
• Experience working with a wide variety of neurological populations including but not limited to Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Functional Neurological Disorder, Dementia, Neuroimmunology, neuromuscular disease and motor neuron diseases.
• Experience supervising psychology students or residents within the last 12 months.
